Kindness wins poetry division of the 2013 Green Book Festival

Kindness: A Vegetarian Poetry Anthology, published by the Buddhist Text Translation Society (BTTS), has won first place in the poetry division of the 2013 San Francisco Green Book Festival.

Every spring, the Green Book Festival honors books that contribute to greater understanding, respect for and positive action on the changing worldwide environment, and Kindness does exactly that. The preface ofKindness states, “These poems arise from the insights of interdependence. The spiritual well-being of humanity on earth is tied to the well-being of animals.”

Kindness was created by monastic disciples of the late Tripitaka Master Hsuan Hua. Reverand Heng Sure, PhD, director of the Berkeley Buddhist Monastery, translated the poems from selections of Tang and Song Dynasty poems. Guo He added the illustrations, and Heng Lung did the book layout.

In order that everyone can benefit from this book,  BTTS will make it available for free download in our Free ebooks library. Currently, we have it available to view the book online
