About the Talk
The most prominent sports phenomena in China since the start of the new century include, but are not limited to, the dominance of women's professional tennis, the sudden rise of snow sports, and the continued downturn in men's football and basketball. The top practitioners in these sports include both Chinese athletes and a growing number of naturalized foreign athletes. I will provide some insights from sports anthropology on how these changes have occurred.
